Common questions
Is gratuity calculated on basic or full salary?+
In the UAE and Qatar it is the basic wage, excluding allowances. In Saudi Arabia it is based on the last wage including the allowances that count under the contract. Using the wrong base is the most common mistake.
Does resignation reduce the gratuity?+
In Saudi Arabia, yes: resignation reduces the award by length of service (nothing under 2 years, rising to the full amount at 10 years). Under current UAE law, completing at least 1 year generally entitles the employee to full gratuity whether they resign or are terminated.
Is there a maximum gratuity?+
In the UAE the total end-of-service gratuity is capped at 2 years' wage. Saudi Arabia and Qatar do not apply that specific cap in the standard formula.
How does Wieeo handle this?+
Wieeo tracks each employee's start date and salary, so accrued end-of-service is always up to date and visible. You see your total liability at any moment, not only when someone resigns.
Know your gratuity liability before someone leaves
Wieeo tracks each employee's tenure and accrues end-of-service automatically, so you always know what you owe, not just on the last day.
